About Us

The Whatcom County Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Care Council (WCEMSTCC) is a volunteer, non-profit organization incorporated October 16, 1972.

The Whatcom County EMS and Trauma Care Council’s mission is to assist and guide local EMS  partners in the coordination and improvement of emergency medical services, and empower  stakeholders through illness and injury prevention, and public education.

1.) Coordination: Trauma Care Council quarterly meetings provide a venue for all county  EMS partners to collaborate and network. In addition, the General Council Chairperson  also serves as a member of the Technical Advisory Board (TAB) and therefore can  promote stakeholder interests at a higher level.

2.) Improvement: Education Committee and CQI; We are committed to saving lives while  advancing the standard of emergency care in Whatcom County with a robust continuing  education program and continuous quality improvement.

3.) Injury Prevention: Through a variety of  public events, we strive to educate our  community on the importance of safety. Available resources include fall prevention, bike  helmets, car seat education, safety fair, and teen heart screenings.

4.) Public Education: By offering courses such as Stop the Bleed, Narcan Administration  and CPR courses, we aim to both educate and empower our community.

The Council membership is made up of a balance of ambulance and aid services, hospital and pre-hospital providers, consumers, law enforcement and government agencies involved in the delivery of trauma care and emergency medical services. The Whatcom County Medical Program Director is an advisory member.
